Puss in Boots: A Cunning Hero Takes to the Stage

When a young miller's apprentice appears to be left with nothing, a fairy tale stage experience full of wit, imagination, and surprising turns begins at the culture house abraxas. The Moussong Theater with Puppets brings Charles Perrault's fairy tale based on themes from the Brothers Grimm to the stage as an atmospheric puppet theater for children from five years old.

A Cat with a Knack for Human Weaknesses

Booted out by his brazen brothers, the miller's apprentice is left with only an old cat. However, this cat possesses more than just feline composure: with a wise gaze, it recognizes the weaknesses and vanity of people and finds loopholes that its master would have hardly discovered alone. The production combines precise puppet direction with a dramaturgy that makes adventure, comedy, and fairy tale tension immediately tangible.

A Windmill Becomes a Magical Stage Space

At the center of the stage set is a large windmill, which transforms repeatedly throughout the performance. Its portals open to the throne room of the king, fields, meadows, and forests become a backdrop for a rattling carriage ride, and mysterious chambers lead into the world of a magician. The wooden atmosphere of the Middle Ages creates a sensual theater image without kitsch and clichés.

Puppet Theater with Wit, Charm, and Artistic Performance

The direction relies on the unique expressiveness of puppet play. Movements, glances, rhythm, and acoustics allow the puppets to become independent stage personalities. This results in a production that opens immediate access to stage art for children while simultaneously addressing adult companions with fine humor and dramatic clarity. The Augsburg Allgemeine praised the piece as a performance of compelling wit and charm.

A Family Afternoon Full of Adventure

The performance is aimed at children from five years old and serves as a shared cultural experience for families. Between throne rooms, magic castles, and carriage rides, a world unfolds where courage, imagination, and cleverness alter the course of events. The audience's reaction thrives on the closeness of the puppet theater: every movement feels immediate, and every transformation becomes a small stage miracle.
