Current Program and Schedule at Sensemble Theater Augsburg

The Sensemble Theater programmatically stands for contemporary drama, socially relevant themes, and fresh formats. The current schedule features premieres and new adaptations of original works as well as successful literary adaptations, such as stage versions of popular novels that reach both the feuilleton and the audience. In addition to theater productions, the profile includes improvisation formats, readings, discussion series, and a regular music program in the theater bar. The schedule is clearly structured by date on the website, with a brief summary, casting information, and the direct option to reserve tickets or switch to online advance sales. For those planning long-term, seasonal highlights can be viewed: In the winter half-year, performances are offered from Thursday to Saturday evenings and Sundays in the early evening; classic start times from December to February are Thursday to Saturday at 7:30 PM and Sunday at 6:00 PM. Furthermore, the venue integrates projects and festivals in collaboration with partners, such as participation in city festival events or thematic series in cooperation with cultural institutions. A special feature is the established theater night in Augsburg titled Quickies Augsburg, where short formats and scenic experiments are presented in a compact evening. Also significant are the Augsburg Talks for Literature, Theater, and Engagement, which link performing arts with civil society discourse. The plan also includes recurring collaborations with museums and educational partners, including the long-standing memorial work of the series Lebenslinien of the Jewish Museum Augsburg Swabia in collaboration with the theater. This mix ensures that both regular guests and newcomers quickly find a suitable offering: from politically aware theater to humorous evenings and concerts in the bar. Particularly service-friendly: Dates are continuously updated, reservations are generally possible about two months before the respective performance, and the event pages link directly to ticket options. Thus, those who want to get to know the venue will always find a current, reliable overview of upcoming events and can secure their desired seats with just a few clicks.

Tickets, Prices, and Seating Plan Booking: How to Get Tickets

For purchasing tickets, Sensemble Theater offers two convenient ways. First, you can make a free ticket reservation for the respective program point in the online schedule. The theater selects the best possible seats and holds the tickets at the box office; payment is made on-site, and collection should be done at least 30 minutes before the performance begins. This option is ideal if you want to remain flexible and avoid additional advance booking fees. Secondly, there is the online advance sale through Eventim with seating plan booking. Here, you select your desired seats yourself in the graphical seating plan; a booking fee applies for this service. Both methods are directly accessible from the respective event pages, allowing you to reach your goal without detours. The pricing structure is transparent: premieres cost regularly 24 euros; no discounts are provided here. For Sensemble productions and guest performances, the regular price is usually 22 euros. People with a recognized disability of 50 percent or more pay 20 euros upon presentation of proof at the box office. Students, trainees, and those up to 25 years of age receive discounted tickets for 10 euros; the corresponding proof will be checked at the entrance. Frequent visitors can take advantage of attractive subscriptions and season tickets: The premiere subscription includes six premiere dates for 170 euros, while the Sensemble fan subscription offers six fixed fan dates for 140 euros. An annual ticket grants access to all Sensemble productions for one year at a price of 175 euros, and specifically for students up to 25 years, there is a semester ticket for 45 euros. Gift vouchers are also available – either directly through the theater or in the city area in the old town. For concert series in the bar, free admission often applies; to support the program, a donation of about 20 euros per person is requested (exceptions may apply and will be indicated at the respective date). The seating plan booking in the Eventim system is also practical, giving you an overview of free and already occupied seats. This way, you can select rows and seat numbers according to your preference or let the theater assign you a seat with the free reservation. Both options are reliable, combining predictability and flexibility, making ticket purchasing easy for individual visitors, couples, and groups alike.

Opening Hours, Box Office, and Bar & Lounge Overview

Service orientation is firmly part of the DNA of Sensemble Theater. The box office as well as the bar and lounge open one hour before the performance begins. If you have reserved tickets online, please collect them at the box office 30 minutes prior to the start; this ensures timely entry for everyone. For artistic and acoustic reasons, no entry is allowed after the performance has started. The theater bar remains open until 1:00 AM after the performances and invites conversations with the ensemble, guests, and other visitors. The office is reachable from Tuesday to Friday between 9:30 AM and 2:00 PM, excluding Bavarian school holidays. Important for planners: In the winter months of December to February, evening performances usually start on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30 PM, and on Sundays at 6:00 PM. These clear times help coordinate restaurant visits or arrivals well. The venue is barrier-free; thus, access and stay are possible for wheelchair users and people with limited mobility. Drinks from the bar may be taken into the hall depending on the type of event; information on this is available at the entrance and on the hall doors. Those who arrive early will find ample space in the lounge to prepare for the evening. The combination of short distances, friendly service, and reliable opening hours makes the visit predictable – whether you drop by spontaneously for an improv night, want to experience a premiere, or reserve for a concert in the bar. For inquiries regarding reservations, discounts, or group bookings, the office is available by phone; frequently asked questions are also summarized compactly on the website. This creates a smooth process from the first click to the applause.

History, Profile, and Sponsorship: Sensemble Theater gGmbH

The Sensemble Theater has been a fixed part of the independent theater scene in Augsburg for many years. The sponsoring organization was founded in the 1990s, and in 1996, the association was formed with artists and culturally interested supporters from various fields. Since the year 2000, Sensemble has been using its own venue in the Kulturfabrik in the textile district, which has allowed for the development of a continuous program with a clear aesthetic signature. Over the years, numerous premieres have been realized; individual productions have gained regional attention and have been performed elsewhere. Thematically, the venue is dedicated to contemporary theater, addressing current socio-political debates and connecting them with personal perspectives and local references. In addition to the repertoire operation, Sensemble is responsible for distinctive series, including the theater night Quickies Augsburg with several short formats in one evening and the Augsburg Talks for Literature, Theater, and Engagement, which bring discourse and art together. A significant cooperation project is the memorial and educational series Lebenslinien of the Jewish Museum Augsburg Swabia, which the theater has been supporting since 2002. The legal form is a non-profit GmbH; Dr. Sebastian Seidel is listed as the managing director in the publicly accessible imprint. The integration into Augsburg's cultural landscape is also reflected in recurring collaborations with festivals and partners in the city. The spatial connection to the Kulturfabrik promotes exchange and collaboration with other artistic actors on-site, from studios to schools. This structure allows the venue to quickly respond to current topics, showcase young positions, and reliably stand for qualitatively maintained productions. Thus, the Sensemble Theater is not only a performance venue but also a source of inspiration: for contemporary storytelling, for new formats, and for collaborations that visibly enrich the cultural life in the city.

Photos, Atmosphere, and Reviews: How the Audience Experiences the Stage

Those who look at pictures of the Sensemble Theater immediately recognize the quality of short distances: The hall is dimensioned so that an immediate closeness unfolds between the audience and the performance. This fosters concentrated watching and a fine sense for nuances, which contemporary drama with its rapid changes and pointed dialogues particularly benefits from. Even during improv nights or concerts, the stage feels intimate and present. Audience feedback often highlights the friendly, uncomplicated atmosphere: from quick entry to the friendly box office to the more personal touch at the bar. Many appreciate the opportunity to stay in the lounge after the final applause, letting the experience resonate over a drink and engaging in conversation with the ensemble or other guests. Feedback also emphasizes the thematic range – from entertainingly ironic programs to thoughtful, politically aware evenings. Of course, the impression at an independent stage depends on the respective format; therein lies the special quality for many: You discover new things, see the handwriting of different directing teams, and experience surprises time and again. Helpful for choosing seats is the seating plan booking in the online advance sale, as it shows which rows and blocks are available. Since there are no long distances between the back rows and the stage, the view from all seats is good, and the sound remains clear and direct. Those seeking photographic impressions often find scene images or trailers on the event pages that make the aesthetic profile of the productions visible. Together, this creates a theater visit that is both sensual and accessible: consciously small in distance, large in themes, and supported by a team that takes service seriously. For this reason, many guests return – and bring friends who appreciate the special mix of contemporary drama, improv, and concert evenings.

A slightly different kind of theater, highly recommended! You don't need to squander millions of state funds to entertain an audience for 90 minutes! The city of Augsburg should take a page out of their book! Everything is very simple, yet clean, practical, and affordable for the average person. Even parking is no problem for visitors, and the bar is open until 1 a.m.! At -10°C, it's advisable to dress warmly, but that's not a very common occurrence in Datschburg anyway!
