Christmas magic on the musical stage: Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella in Augsburg
When the first notes sound on December 21, 2026, at the Kongress am Park, Augsburg transforms into a fairy-tale winter world. The musical Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella brings the popular DEFA fairy-tale film by Václav Vorlíček and František Pavlíček to the stage and combines acting, singing, and the anthemic music of Karel Svoboda into a festive stage experience for the whole family.
A tale of courage, wisdom, and self-determination
At the center is a Cinderella who does not accept her role as a maid. Smart, self-confident, and full of energy, the young heroine takes her fate into her own hands. Three mysterious hazelnuts open up new possibilities for her and lead her on winding paths to the royal ball, where she meets the prince.
The dramaturgy preserves the familiar magic of the story while simultaneously placing the strong-willed, active heroine in the spotlight. Riding, archery, and climbing are as much a part of her character as warmth, wit, and an unyielding will. This is how the Christmas classic receives a contemporary stage perspective.
Film music becomes the heartbeat of the story
The well-known music of Karel Svoboda gives the production its unmistakable sound. Melodies that have been closely associated with the Christmas season for many generations take on a new presence in the theater space. Live singing and musical scenes make the fairy-tale action immediate and sensual.
The stage design opens the view to snowy landscapes, courtly rooms, and the splendor of the royal ball. Costumes, lighting moods, and the acoustic atmosphere coalesce into a fairy-tale theater world, where each performance appears like a new chapter in the winter's book.
A musical for families and fairy-tale film fans
The production by Stefan Zimmermann is aimed at both young and older audiences. Families experience an evening full of excitement, romance, and musical highlights; fans of the cult movie discover familiar motifs in a new form of stage art. The lost shoe, the three hazelnuts, and the prince's quest gain immediate emotional power in the live experience.
Conclusion: A festive evening full of stage magic
Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella promises a magical connection of fairy tale, acting, music, and Christmas spirit in Augsburg. Those who love the film classic and want to experience it as a lively musical will find the perfect place for a lively theater evening at the Kongress am Park. Secure your tickets and experience the Christmas magic live on stage.
