An emerald green adventure in martini-Park

When a glowing hot air balloon appears outside Doro's window, a fantastic journey begins: On Sunday, December 13, 2026, the Augsburg State Theatre will present Sergej Gößner's family piece The Wizard of Oz based on the famous tale by Lyman Frank Baum at martini-Park.

A modern journey to Oz

Doro often feels alone. Her father works nights, other children bore her, and her imagination finds a digital home in the mobile game Emerald City. The mysterious balloon pulls her out of this everyday life and carries her to the land of Oz. To return home, Doro must collect six emeralds and bring them to the wizard.

Scarecrow, Tin Woman, and Lion

On her way, Doro encounters a scatterbrained scarecrow, a lovesick tin woman, and a lion who lacks courage. The characters reflect central human desires: the wish for intelligence, heart, and courage. Gößner's dramaturgy combines the fairy tale classic with pop cultural motifs and simultaneously tells of self-worth, friendship, and the courage to find one's own path.

Staging with music, light, and imagination

Director Annette Müller guides the ensemble through a colorful stage world. Julia Nussbaumer designs the set, Lise Kruse creates the costumes, Michael Lohmann composes the music, and Ron Heinrich manages the lighting. Thus, a theatrical atmosphere between fairy tale transformation, musical stage magic, and comical encounters emerges. The acting talents of Franka Forkel, Thomas Prazak, Jenny Langner, Mehdi Salim, Jannis Roth, and Katja Sieder carry the story through varying tones: fast-paced, humorous, and touching.

Family theatre with inclusive offers

The performance is aimed at an audience aged eight and above. For the performance on December 13, 2026, a translation of all dialogues and songs into German Sign Language is planned. Integrated audio description and free audio guides with scene summaries in Ukrainian, Arabic, and Easy Language enhance the stage experience.

Conclusion: Courage begins with the first step

The Wizard of Oz promises a vibrant family theatre full of fantastic characters, musical atmosphere, and dramatic surprises. Those who want to experience the journey to the Emerald City live and discover a story about self-worth, friendship, and courage will find a colorful stage experience at martini-Park for the pre-Christmas season.
