The Messiah brings Christmas theater magic to Sensemble Augsburg

When Theo and Bernhard tell the Christmas story at the Sensemble Theater, the familiar legend transforms into a fast-paced stage comedy filled with enthusiasm, surprising role changes, and pointed humor. On Thursday, December 10, 2026, Patrick Barlow's Christmas comedy The Messiah will be on the program in Augsburg at 8:00 PM.

A Christmas Story Full of Pace and Wit

Patrick Barlow's play turns the birth of Jesus into a comical yet lovingly chaotic theatrical event. With great energy, Theo and Bernhard take on all roles: from the Archangel Gabriel to the naive carpenter Joseph and other figures from the Christmas legend. The reduced cast sharpens the focus on acting, timing, synchronization, and stage performance.

Pointed Acting Instead of Contemplative Routine

The focus is on precise direction of comedic situations, rapid role changes, and playing with the audience's expectations. The live atmosphere at the Sensemble Theater thrives on direct closeness to the audience, clear language, and the special charm when two actors create an entire Christmas world on stage.

A Firm Tradition at Sensemble

The Messiah has been part of the Sensemble Theater's program every Christmas since 2002. The production combines classic Christmas motifs with British humor and a deliberately concentrated staging. This creates a concert experience without a concert: a theatrical Christmas journey, carried by enthusiasm, timing, and surprising moments.

Visitors can expect an entertaining theater evening full of role changes, situational comedy, and festive atmosphere.
