Rapunzel at the Augsburg Puppet Theatre: Fairy Tale Magic with Puppets

When Rapunzel's seemingly endless hair hangs down from the tower room, a colorful stage experience begins for the whole family at the Augsburg Puppet Theatre. This Grimm classic combines fairy tale suspense, subtle humor, and the unmistakable precision of puppet theater.

A Tower, a Braid, and a Brave Prince

Rapunzel has never left her prison high above the world. The witch Gothel takes care of her, but keeps her trapped in her isolated world. When Prince Poldi one day climbs up the long braid, the seemingly orderly tower chaos begins to stir. A pig also plays a special role in this lovingly cheeky version.

Poetic Puppetry for Children and Adults

The production focuses on clear dramaturgy, careful character direction, and the concentrated acting skills of the puppeteers. The set design, lighting, and acoustics come together to create an intimate theater atmosphere, where every movement gains significance. From wood, fabric, and voice, a fairy tale world emerges that directly reaches children from three years old and reminds adults of the timeless power of classical stage art.

A Family Afternoon Full of Fantasy

With a running time of about 95 minutes, Rapunzel unfolds its story at a pace that keeps young audiences engaged. The audience experiences a mix of suspense, comedy, and poetic imagery: the mysterious tower, the dangerous braid, and the prince's attempt at rescue. The proximity to the stage makes every audience reaction palpable, adding a special magic to the visit.
