Oscar: When Money, Love, and Nerves Go Out of Control
In the TiF Theater on Frauentorstraße, Claude Magnier's comedy Oscar becomes a furious stage experience: On Friday, October 23, 2026, the seemingly orderly world of the Barnier household falls apart within a few hours. Amid millions in cash, marriage plans, and swapped suitcases, a fast-paced farce full of misunderstandings and pointed dialogues unfolds.
A Comedy of Escalating Misunderstandings
At eight in the morning: Soap manufacturer Pierre Barnier is woken up by his employee Albert Leroi. Albert demands a utopian salary increase and at the same time asks for Barnier's daughter's hand in marriage. As leverage, he plays with 34 million that he has stolen from Barnier's own money. Thus begins a series of bad decisions, where each new truth brings about the next confusion.
Drama with Pace and Slapstick
The staging by Peter Resler relies on the classic mechanics of boulevard comedy: doors, suitcases, jewels, and lingerie become dramatic impulse generators. The action accelerates from scene to scene, while Barnier loses track of his family, his wealth, and ultimately his own sanity. Comedy arises from the precise interplay of timing, physicality, and acting skill.
Set Design, Lighting, and Costumes as Part of the Play
Olaf Diete is responsible for the set design, while Anna Diete and her team handle the lighting design. Costumes and makeup sharpen the characters and provide a sensuous-comedic surface to the events. In the hall of the Kolpinghaus, a theatrical atmosphere arises where private catastrophe and public hilarity meet directly.
An Augsburg Theater Evening with Long Tradition
The TiF Theater on Frauentorstraße has stood for committed amateur theater with quality since 1885. The production combines this local stage passion with a French comedy tradition that thrives on rapid scene changes, exaggeration, and precise character comedy. The result promises an evening where audience reactions and stage events intertwine closely.

Oscar takes its audience right into a family chaos that becomes more absurd and entertaining with each twist. Those who love quick dialogues, pointed acting, and a production full of surprises will experience a theater evening at TiF with high speed and great joy of play.
