Oscar in Augsburg: When Money, Love and Suitcases Go Completely Out of Control
On Saturday, November 7, 2026, the theater on Frauentorstraße will present Claude Magnier's turbulent comedy Oscar on stage. Starting at 8:00 PM, the audience will experience a fast-paced theater evening full of misunderstandings, family secrets, and witty dialogues.
A Morning That Changes Everything
The story revolves around the soap manufacturer Pierre Barnier. His employee Albert Leroi bursts into his boss's routine early in the morning, demands a utopian salary increase, and simultaneously asks for Barnier's daughter's hand in marriage. When an additional 34 million disappears from Barnier's own account, the comedic chaos ensues.
Mix-ups, Suitcases and Dizzily Twists
Claude Magnier's cult comedy thrives on rapid scene changes and a series of bad decisions. Lies are told and then exposed, suitcases change hands constantly, and soon no one knows exactly who is related to whom or who wants to marry whom. Amid money, jewels, and lingerie, Barnier gradually loses track – and nearly his mind.
Comedic Precision on Stage
The production by Peter Resler combines classic boulevard theater with high playfulness. An experienced ensemble brings the characters to life with precise timing, quick dialogues, and a visible joy in comedic overdrive. The cast includes Walter Link as Pierre Barnier, Roman Stein as Albert Leroi, Carolin Köhler as Colette, and Nils Weller as Oscar.
