For You: An intense theatre evening about origin, family, and social reality
On November 7, 2026, the Augsburg State Theatre brings Iris Sayram's autobiographical novel For You to the stage. The novel adaptation combines personal memory with social analysis and looks at migration, classism, poverty, and the question of how social origin shapes life paths.
A family story with political power
Iris Sayram narrates her childhood in Cologne in the 1980s and 1990s, of parents who want to create a free and happy home for their daughter despite limited opportunities, and of the invisible rules that determine belonging and social ascent. The production preserves the personal closeness of the material while simultaneously opening up a larger social space.
Installative stage space full of memories
Nicole Schneiderbauer develops For You in an installative stage space filled with traces, images, and stories. The event experience thrives on the immediate closeness to the performance, a concentrated event atmosphere, and an audience mood that connects personal experiences with political questions.
Distinctive handwriting of direction and ensemble
The direction by Nicole Schneiderbauer, the stage and costumes by Miriam Busch, the video by Natalie Stanczak, and the dramaturgy by Sabeth Braun shape a theatre evening with clear artistic organization. Among others, Elif Esmen, Ute Fiedler, Mehdi Salim, and Jannis Roth perform on stage. The production combines acting, spatial design, and acoustic elements into a multi-layered stage encounter.
Theatre for an attentive audience
For You appeals to culture-interested visitors who seek contemporary theatre with social relevance. The production invites reflection on family, memory, social codes, and the conditions of ascent. Especially the connection of intimate storytelling and political perspective gives the evening its special impact.
Conclusion: A touching Augsburg theatre experience
Those seeking an intense theatre evening with a strong atmosphere and lasting questions will find an extraordinary production in For You. The Augsburg State Theatre transforms Iris Sayram's family story into an immediate stage event that resonates long after the final image.
