Whispering Grass: Jazz from the Horsehead Nebula
On Thursday, November 19, 2026, the Sensemble-Bar in Augsburg will transform into a sound space between modern jazz, improvised music, and cosmic imagination. Whispering Grass begins at 8:00 PM and presents compositions by Andreas Roßkopf on stage.
Complex Sound Worlds with Their Own Orbit
The music of Andreas Roßkopf moves far away from the musical mainstream. Its compositions combine modern jazz language, open improvisational spaces, and a distinctive dramaturgy. The result sounds modal, idiosyncratic, and full of surprising twists.
Singing with Light and Depth
Alexandrina Simeons gives the pieces a special balance of emotional depth and playful lightness with her bright singing. Her voice adds color accents, opens spaces, and guides through the often multilayered orchestration.
Storytelling on Tenor Saxophone
Tenor saxophonist Christian Buss shapes the band with a crisp sound. His solos tell musical stories and give the themes a distinct outline. Oliver Möbius on drums and Janusz Leudemann on bass create a tight rolling foundation that lends movement and groove to the complex arrangements.
A Concert for Curious Ears
The small Sensemble-Bar provides an immediate setting for concentrated listening. Proximity, acoustics, and audience mood make the synchronization of the musicians feel particularly direct. A review by the Augsburger Allgemeine describes the music as modal, modern, inimitably complex, and diverse.
Conclusion: Whispering Grass promises an intense concert experience for all who want to discover modern jazz, free improvisation, and unusual sound colors live. Anyone who wants to not only hear music but experience it as a moving sound image should not miss this evening at the Sensemble in Augsburg.
