Waiting for Bolero: A Trombone Life Full of Music and Stories
On Thursday, October 29, 2026, the C. Bechstein Centrum Augsburg will transform into a special concert venue for a musical portrait blending virtuoso classical pieces, recognizable melodies, and humorous insights into the life of a musician.
Harald Bschorr meets Walter Dolak
The solo trombonist of the Nuremberg State Philharmonic, Harald Bschorr, will share the evening with pianist Walter Dolak. Under the title Waiting for Bolero, a ringing journey unfolds from Mozart through Ravel and Wagner to Chaplin. The trombone not only represents powerful brass sound but also showcases its lyrical, narrative, and surprisingly adaptable side.
Between Ravel, Mozart, and Chaplin
The program connects gripping classical music with familiar melodies and personal anecdotes. At the center is the musical encounter of trombone and piano: precise synchronization, colorful sound design, and virtuosic solos meet spontaneous stage performance and fine humor. This creates a concert experience that combines musical expertise with entertaining intimacy.
A Musician's Life as a Stage Program
Harald Bschorr studied at the Leopold Mozart Conservatory in Augsburg, was the first trombonist in the Bruckner Orchestra Linz and the Philharmonic Orchestra Augsburg, and has been the solo trombonist of the Nuremberg State Philharmonic since 1998. In addition, he is active as a lecturer, ensemble leader, and initiator of various brass and jazz formations.
Walter Dolak brings his experience as a pianist, organist, conductor, and music educator. His training took him to music colleges in Munich and Würzburg, among others. International engagements, awards at organ improvisation competitions, and his work with choirs and ensembles shape his musical profile.
Intimate Live Atmosphere at Bechstein Centrum
The concert hall of the C. Bechstein Centrum provides an immediate setting for the encounter between audience and musicians. The limited audience of 55 guests promises a focused atmosphere and short distances between the stage and concert attendees. Free seating makes the evening more personal and accessible.
