Festive Concert for the 50th Anniversary
The Mozartchor Augsburg will celebrate its 50th anniversary in November 2026 with a special festive concert. Under the title “The Elements of Life”, the concert connects two musical works that relate different sound worlds and themes: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's The Magic Flute and Christopher Tin's The Drop That Contained the Sea.
The anniversary concert will take place at the Evangelical Heilig-Kreuz Church Augsburg. The traditional setting of the church provides the fitting location for a festive concert evening of the Augsburg choir. The Mozartchor Augsburg, which reflects on five decades of its existence with this event, is at the center of the evening.
Music Between Mozart and the Present
Mozart's The Magic Flute is among the most well-known works of the composer and is closely associated with the name of the Mozartchor. Christopher Tin's The Drop That Contained the Sea adds a contemporary perspective to the program. The juxtaposition of the two works already makes the concert an extraordinary component of the anniversary.
The event title “The Elements of Life” refers to a concert program that brings together tradition and modern choral music. Visitors can expect a musical evening in honor of the 50th choir anniversary and the special connection of the Mozartchor Augsburg to Mozart's music.
