Shame! and Colonnello: Acoustic 30s Punk meets raw Augsburg energy
On Friday, November 20, 2026, the Ballonfabrik in Augsburg will transform into a vibrant meeting place for folk-punk, political lyrics, and uncompromising guitar music. Shame! from Krakow combine Polish street folklore from the interwar period with the intensity of punk, while Colonnello from Augsburg will kick off the evening with distorted guitars, driving rhythms, and edgy alternative sound.
Shame! writes punk history from the perspective of the 1920s
Shame! was formed in 2013 in Krakow from the idea of a fictional street band that connects the spirit of pre-war Poland with the attitude of punk. Banjo, accordion, clarinet, tuba, percussion, and multi-voiced singing create an unusual sound between folk-punk, street folk, and musical storytelling.
The band looks back at the early years of the Second Polish Republic, linking historical motifs with socially engaged lyrics. The acoustic sound does not come off as nostalgic: In the interplay of driving rhythm, raw vocals, and precise instrumental synchronization, a stage performance emerges with immediate political and emotional power.
International stages, strong accolades, and a distinctive sound
Shame! have performed at prestigious festivals and concert stages in Europe, North America, and Australia. Notable stops include SXSW, WOMEX, WOMAD, Rudolstadt Festival, Primavera, OFF Festival, and Pohoda. For their musical-literary reconstruction and the connection of folk formulas with punk, they were awarded the Polityka Passport. Additionally, they received the Grzegorz-Ciechowski Prize and a special award at the New Tradition Folk Festival.
Their discography includes albums such as Shame!, They Will Beat!, 1939, Nobody Did Anything to Us, and Crisis, as well as the live album 10:10. Songs of the Warsaw Autumn. The album 1939 was awarded the Fryderyk Award in 2020 in the World Music category.
Colonnello brings local reinforcement
Colonnello from Augsburg counter the historical folk-punk of Shame! with a raw present. Distorted guitars, powerful drums, and an intense stage performance blend with elements from alternative rock, grunge, noise, and shoegaze. The sound remains unpolished, direct, and physically palpable.
Live atmosphere in the Ballonfabrik
The Ballonfabrik symbolizes independent club culture and concerts with close proximity between stage and audience. Here, acoustic instruments, overdriven amplifiers, and a focused audience mood come together. The evening promises contrasts: historical street music and modern guitar power, melodic lines and edgy rhythms, narrative lyrics and immediate live energy.
Conclusion: An evening of concert between history and the present
Shame! and Colonnello bring together two distinct forms of resistant music on November 20, 2026. Those who experience folk-punk, political lyrics, raw guitars, and intense club concerts will find an evening with character at the Ballonfabrik. Doors open at 8:00 PM, and the concert begins at 8:30 PM. Tickets are available in advance starting at 18 euros.
