HORNUMENTAL brings extraordinary horn sounds to Augsburg's Moritzplatz
On Friday, October 16, 2026, HORNUMENTAL transforms Moritzplatz in Augsburg into an open concert stage for impressive brass sounds. Starting at 15:00, the ensemble presents a versatile plaza concert featuring up to 13 musicians from Austria and Germany. Admission is free, donations are warmly welcomed.
A body of sound with many faces
HORNUMENTAL shows how versatile the horn can sound in concert practice. Classical horns meet bird horns, Viennese horns, Wagner tubas, and drums. Depending on the ensemble, the musical spectrum ranges from intimate quartets to large horn ensembles. This creates ever-new sound colors, dynamic contrasts, and surprising musical perspectives.
From classical to film and pop
The repertoire of the ensemble combines works from classical and romantic eras with folk songs as well as melodies from film and pop. The diverse programming makes the concert appealing to seasoned classical fans as well as to visitors who experience the special sound of a horn ensemble live for the first time.
Live atmosphere in the heart of Augsburg
In Moritzplatz, the music unfolds in the open air with immediate proximity to the audience. The warm, round horn sound meets the clear acoustics of the square, while the drums create rhythmic accents. Under the musical direction of Markus Hein, a precise synchronization of the different instruments and a cohesive ensemble image is achieved.
Free admission and open to all
The plaza concert starts at 15:00 and lasts more than an hour. Attendance is free; donations for the ensemble are welcome. In case of bad weather, HORNUMENTAL refers to the concert on the evening of October 16 in Ottmaring.
Conclusion: Horn music with great tonal range
The concert by HORNUMENTAL promises a special concert experience between chamber music delicacy and impressive sonic fullness. Anyone who wants to experience extraordinary instruments, lively stage performance, and musical surprises in the open air should mark the date at Augsburg's Moritzplatz.
