Kauboi City and Cactus Club: Comic Universe Meets Live Atmosphere at the City Club

On Thursday, November 5, 2026, the City Club Augsburg will be transformed into a colorful stage for 25 years of comic history from Augsburg. At Kauboi City and Cactus Club Christian Schmiedbauer presents his unique comic universe centered around the cult figures Kauboi and Cactus – featuring an exhibition, live reading, projections, and a specially compiled soundtrack.

Large-format Images and Riso Prints

The KAUBOI CITY exhibition brings large-format paintings and Risographs in vinyl record format into the spaces of the City Club. The visual worlds combine laconic humor, quirky Western flair, and the unmistakable aesthetics of Christian Schmiedbauer. A quarter century of creative publications thus receives an atmospheric framework in the heart of Augsburg's club culture.

Live Reading with Projections and Soundtrack

Under the label KAKTUS CLUB, Schmiedbauer reads selected comics live. His stories are accompanied by projections that immerse the audience directly into the universe of Kauboi and Cactus. A specially compiled soundtrack concept plays alongside: a multimedia club experience blending reading, comic show, and musical performance.

DJ Sound in the Café of the City Club

In the café, the long-established Gogo DJs Lefty & Steve Train at the turntables provide the perfect Kauboi-and-Cactus sound. The music mix complements the live reading with a relaxed, subcultural party atmosphere. Between images, beats, and projections, an unusual dance floor mood arises that connects concert night, exhibition, and nightlife.

An Augsburg Artist with a Unique Style

Christian Schmiedbauer works as a comic artist and graphic designer in Augsburg. His series Kauboi and Cactus has been with him for many years and has received attention in the German comic scene multiple times. Der Spiegel listed him among the eleven best German webcomic creators. With Kauboi City, his universe of characters returns to a place where art, music, and club culture meet directly.
