Forest Ray brings Seattle sound to Kappeneck

On October 27, 2026, Forest Ray will perform at Kappeneck in Augsburg. The band from Seattle blends neo-psychedelic, cosmic country, Americana, and indie rock into a warm, distinctive soundscape with a pronounced road trip feel.

Between Psychedelia, Country, and Grand Melody

Forest Ray stands for folk 'n' roll with shimmering guitars, melodic songwriting, and a consciously handcrafted atmosphere. Their sound moves between Britpop, country, and psychedelic sound aesthetics. The songs evoke classic pop melodies, yet remain unmistakably modern due to their instrumentation.

Peter Sumic and the Sound World of Forest Ray

At the center is frontman Peter Sumic, whose narrative singing ties the pieces together. Guitar, mandolin, banjo, pedal steel guitar, harmonica, and percussion form a richly detailed orchestration. The result feels both earthy and ethereal: Americana with colorful soundscapes, precise synchronization, and a stage performance that seeks closeness instead of overloaded show effects.

The Current Chapter: Windfucker (Jebivjetar)

With their sixth studio album Windfucker (Jebivjetar), released in January 2024, the band deepened their profile between Americana, psychedelic, and indie rock. The radio station KEXP described the sound as a mix of Americana, psychedelic, and indie rock, highlighting the dense sound tapestry around Sumic's songwriting.
